Assignment 1: Introduction

Image
Image taken from liskw.wordpress.com I think that the first post in a blog should be an introduction to their personalities & the blog. Therefore, the first assignment is writing an introduction to their blog. This should also give them a good feel of each other, group work & the writing of blogs. Guiding Statements/Questions: - Who they are - The purpose of the blog - What they want from their blog MOST OUTSTANDING POST FOR ASSIGNMENT 1: .Seven Ai.Seven Ai. by Seven Ai After looking through all the blogs. I found this one to be the most outstanding. In that blog post: All the guiding statements & questions were answered clearly. The English was appropriate and contained no mistakes. They also had pictures that were clearly label and justified. The writing was very cheerful & it was able to retain my interest. This post is the most outstanding post for Assignment 1: Introduction The group gets 3 merit points. Excellent Posts (2 merit points): Welcome to VAREDAEST!!!! by

The Blog Assignments

Image
Image taken from classpress.com During these 3 months, I will incorporate blogs into their language practice tasks. These tasks will be called 'Assignments'. The main language practice will be writing. But I strongly enourage the incorporation of relevant pictures in their posts. I will not give an assignment just for the sake of giving one. I follow the scheme of work. I will use the assignments to fulfill the topics & objectives described therein. An assignment will usually involve group discussion, planning, drafting & writing on paper before production & publication on the group blogs. Each assignment will have it's own blog post. Included in this post will be the instructions & justifications of the assignment. I will post it up as soon as I have assigned them to the groups. The most outstanding work from the groups will be highlighted & featured on the respective assignment post. Do give them your support by reading & posting constructive comme

The Group Merit System

Image
Image taken from www.cg.tuwien.ac.at With the existence of the group blogs, there is also the existence of a permanent grouping system. Upon these student groupings, I will base a Group Merit System. The "Group Merit System" is a system where students in earn merit points for their groups. The group with the highest ammount of merits wins a reward from Mr Yong at the end of his time with them. Here is how they will earn merits or demerits... Merits - winning blog post awards (Most outstanding - 3 pnts / Excellent - 2 pnts / Good - 1 pnt) - everyone in the group has handed in exercise books on time - winning classroom games - being cooperative in class Demerits - one person in the group did not hand in an exercise book on time - distruptive class behaviour (after 2 warnings) - refusal to follow instructions (after 2 warnings)

Introducing the 1 Maju Student Group Blog Project!

Image
taken from fotosearch.com Greetings & welcome to the blog for the SMK Puteri Titiwangsa 1 Maju student group blogs project. This blog will be the main hub for the project where assignments are explained & justified. This blog will also link to the students' group blogs & highlight outstanding work. I am a trainee teacher fondly addressed by my students as Mr Yong. I was part of a government programme where trainee teachers are sent overseas for a few years to learn the art of second language teaching. In my case, I was in Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, for my bachelor's degree in Teaching English as a Second Official Language (TESOL). With my mind fresh with ideas, I decided to come up with a project to carry out with my high-proficiency & high-motivation Form 1 English langauge class, 1 Maju. This project involves the giving of specific assignments to students for group discussion & writing. After that, they post their works on a blog for t
